The surrounding lands and waters fed the Canons and provided the raw materials for life and building the Priory. Archaeological finds show utilisation of clay, sand, wood, metal, rocks and sandstone.
The Canons lived a frugal life of community, no personal possessions, daily prayer and care of the sick.
