The Liverpool Tapestry

Only a few weeks left to go and see the Liverpool Tapestry at the new museum at the the docks – Museum of Liverpool.

I am part of the group, Merseyside Embroiderers’ Guild,  that organised the workshops that produced this community textile hanging.  This huge tapestry was created to celebrate Liverpool’s year as European Capital of Culture in 2008 and over 150 people worked on it. the panels feature iconic images including Superlambananas, the city’s historic buildings, and aspects of Liverpool that have special meaning for the individual stitchers.
