I’ll be Mother

Hospitality – the relationship between guest and host – from the Latin ‘to have power’

                        – the bond formed by eating under one roof

                        – to share your space, your food, your warmth, your safety

                        –  to use what is yours in the service of your guest – ‘the lord of strangers’

to be a mother is to give your body to the hosting of a guest – a  stranger – whom you have yet to meet, a passenger, a stowaway

to put your safety into their hands and their safety in yours

the first thing a mother says is Hello

  1. This is such a lovely concept to work from, as I am a mother of a nearly 2 year old I remember the time of being pregnant and the moment of finally meeting my son for the first time is very prominent. It was such a wonderful time. I can’t wait to see your piece!
